Chuckanut 12 - First time on water under sail
Looks promising! But test interrupted after 10 minutes due to problems with the sail.
I will post some more pictures when back on water.

Building a Chuckanut 12 - Skinning
A couple of weeks ago I skinned the hull with 8 oz polyester weave from Dyson. Yeasterday it was time for the next step: Skinning the deck.
Foam floating support installed in the bow (and stern)
Skinning started using stainless steel staples. I also tested a new fabric with lower density, sold as "Polyester tent canvas". I learned the hard way that this fabric didn't heat shrink. I managed to get it tight, but not "drum tight". Anyway, I decided to go with it and learned a lesson.
Fabric trimmed and deck and hull coated with the firts two layers of paint. I am using a water based acrylic paint (Nordsjö One Super Tech). Very nice to work with.
The colour is classic gray with a touch of blue. It will look great a sunny day on the water.

Building a Chuckanut 12 - work in progress
I am slowly making progress with my project building a Chuckanut 12, a skin-on-frame kayak, based on the plans from Dave Gentry. It is a cute little boat, maybe not really my type of kayak, but my intention is primary to use her for sailing. Modifications needed for sailing and sailing rig details are based on notes kindly provided by Dave.
I have finalised most of the woodwork and the next step is to have her skinned. Below are some pics from my work:
Stem plate
Leeboard backing plate
Mast support
Frame ready to be painted
